Included Smart UI Focus & Navigation¶
Smart UI Focus & Navigation is included with Couch Co-op Builder: runtime, inspectors, customer documentation and examples. No separate purchase or installation is required. It is also sold independently by LevelArgento. Begin with Quick Start for multiplayer setup; Smart UI provides focus/navigation rather than Couch player/session ownership.
It supplies independent focus, focus recovery, directional navigation and focus scopes/modals for authored UI. Couch integrates independent local-multiplayer UI contexts on top of this module.
Manual and components¶
Use the offline PDF manual (Assets/LevelArgento/SmartUINavigation/Documentation/Smart UI Focus & Navigation - Documentation.pdf) or documentation entry (Assets/LevelArgento/SmartUINavigation/Documentation/README.txt) for SmartFocusManager, SmartFocusScope, SmartInputModeDetector, modal focus, navigation and layout constraints. Unity UI and Input System are required Unity packages. The manual's import instructions also apply when this module arrives as part of Couch Co-op Builder.
Couch's Existing Canvas workflow creates/reuses independent player focus contexts and uses one shared Start router. Keep player EventSystems and input modules separate; use the manual for advanced focus behavior.
Samples¶
Open a scene and enter Play Mode. These examples demonstrate Smart UI itself; they do not create Couch player sessions or a multiplayer lobby.

Owning both products and updates¶
Keep one canonical module at Assets/LevelArgento/SmartUINavigation/; do not duplicate it in another folder. Both products use this shared location. Back up local edits before updating either product, because importing another revision can replace files while preserving serialized references. The included module does not grant a separate Asset Store download entitlement.
Couch can warn about an older, missing, mixed or unvalidated Smart UI revision. Use Tools > LevelArgento > Couch Co-op Builder > Validate Smart UI Compatibility to check manually. A supported installation is silent; the check never repairs files. If warned, restore a complete revision supported by your Couch release by re-importing/updating Couch or using a publisher-validated Smart UI revision. A version label alone is not proof of compatibility.
